Quick answers below. Still stuck? Email support@toddlermode.app and a real parent answers, usually within a day.
GETTING STARTED
Download the app, create your account with an email and password, set your 4-digit PIN, and answer your security questions. Then add your first child: pick their avatar and colors, choose which built-in apps they get, and approve the photos and videos they can see. The whole setup takes about four minutes, and you can change any of it later.
Your security questions are the only way to reset your PIN if you ever forget it, and that's deliberate. If Toddler Lock (Guided Access) isn't on, a determined little one can still close the app with the home button or swipe up and wander into your email, so a PIN reset link sitting in your inbox would undo the lock. Security questions keep the reset in your head instead: pick answers you'll actually remember, and keep them to yourself.
Anyone who hands a phone to a little one aged 2 to 5: parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, babysitters, nannies, and teachers. It installs on your phone, so whoever is doing the minding can have their own setup.
Yes. Each child gets a completely separate world with their own apps, photos, videos, and colors. Additional children are $3.00 USD/month each on top of the first child's subscription, whether they're siblings, cousins, or kids you look after. Prices are in USD; outside the US you'll see your local equivalent in the App Store.
KEEPING LITTLE ONES SAFE
Toddler Mode's own exit is guarded by your PIN: every screen in the child's world leads only back to their apps, and the exit requires a long press plus your PIN. Apple doesn't let any app disable the home swipe or hardware buttons, though, so for a hard lock of the whole phone turn on Toddler Lock, which uses Apple's Guided Access: set it up once in Settings, Accessibility, then triple-click the side button after starting Toddler Mode. The app reminds you whenever you start a session without it.
Only what you approve — a handful of favorites or up to 500 photos and 100 videos per child, straight from your own library. Photos and videos your child takes with the built-in camera app appear in their world too. Nothing else on your phone is visible to them.
Really. Nothing inside Toddler Mode carries ads, ever: not our built-in apps, and not any partner app we may add later. It's a hard rule, not a premium feature.
Our apps avoid the tricks that keep kids hooked: no flashing rewards, no loud celebration animations, no endless feeds, no algorithm queuing up the next thing, no scores. Soft colors, gentle sounds, and play that ends when your child decides it ends.
PINS & ACCOUNTS
Tap "Forgot PIN?" on the PIN screen and answer the security questions you set during signup. You'll be able to choose a new PIN right away. Your child's world keeps running normally while you do this.
On the log in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and we'll email you a reset link at the address you signed up with.
SUBSCRIPTION & BILLING
Every feature is free for 14 days, no limitations. If you subscribe, you keep going without interruption. If not, the app pauses until you do, and your setup is saved for whenever you return.
Subscriptions are billed through Apple, so cancel anytime in Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Toddler Mode. Canceling keeps the app active until the end of your paid period.
PRIVACY & DEVICES
As little as possible, and nothing for advertising. Child profiles live under your account with just a first name or nickname, an avatar choice, and your approval lists. We never sell data, show ads, or build profiles of children. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Not yet. iPhone came first, and the Android version is in the works. Join the notify list on our home page and we'll send you one email the day it launches on Google Play.
Yes. Toddler Mode runs on iPad using Apple's iPhone compatibility mode, which shows the app scaled to the iPad's screen. We also designed a layout specifically for the iPad's bigger screen so it's easier to use and navigate.
