Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 5, 2026

Toddler Mode is built on a simple promise: we make money from subscriptions, not from data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do.

The short version

  • We collect the minimum needed to run your account: your email, a securely hashed PIN, and your setup choices.
  • Child profiles contain only what you enter: a first name or nickname, an avatar choice, and your approval lists.
  • Photos, videos, and drawings stay on your phone. We never upload, see, or store your family's media.
  • We show no ads, use no third-party advertising or tracking in the app, and never sell or share data with data brokers.
  • This website only uses analytics cookies if you say yes to them, and never in the app.

What we collect from account holders

When you create an account we collect your email address and a password, plus the 4-digit PIN and security answers you choose (stored hashed, meaning we cannot read them). We also store your app settings: child profiles, app selections, and the identifiers of the photos and videos you approve. These identifiers are references your own phone understands; the media itself never leaves your device.

What we collect about children

Toddler Mode is used by children under an adult's account, and we designed it so children have no account of their own, enter no information, and are never tracked. A child profile holds only what the account holder typed: a first name or nickname, an avatar, a color, and approval lists. We do not collect a child's photos, location, contacts, or voice, and we show children no ads of any kind. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, contact privacy@toddlermode.app and we will delete it.

Play time, shown to you

So you can see how Toddler Mode is being used, the app keeps a simple play summary for each child profile: which built-in apps were opened and roughly how long they were played. This summary is stored inside your own account, is shown only to you on your home screen, keeps about 90 days of history, and is deleted with your account. It contains no content, no photos, and nothing a child typed or made. It is never used for advertising and there is no analytics or tracking software in the app.

How we use setup information ourselves

To decide which built-in apps to build next, we look at de-identified, aggregate statistics from the setup choices described above, for example, how many families have enabled Coloring Book versus Puzzles, or how many use the screen timer. These are totals across all accounts, not reports about your family, and they involve only choices made by adults during setup.

If you would like to help further, there is an optional choice called "Share anonymous play totals." We ask you once when you create your account, it stays off unless you say yes, and you can change your answer any time in Account settings. When it is on, we may include your account's play summaries in those same aggregate totals, for example, total minutes of Coloring Book played across all consenting families. Nothing in these totals identifies you or your child, no names or profiles are included, and turning the switch off stops any future inclusion.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment card details.

Services we rely on

Your account data is stored with Google Firebase (authentication and database), acting as our processor. Firebase does not use this data for its own purposes. The Toddler Mode app itself contains no analytics, advertising, or social media tracking of any kind. The only in-app activity that is recorded is the play summary described above, kept in your own account for you.

To find and fix bugs, the app uses Firebase Crashlytics, also from Google, acting as our processor. If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends us a technical report: the device model, iOS version, and what the app was doing in code when it failed. These reports contain no names, no content, and nothing your child made or saw; they exist so we can repair problems quickly. Crash reports are not used for advertising and are kept only as long as needed to fix the issue.

This website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare briefly processes visitors' IP addresses to serve pages and protect the site from attacks, and it shows us aggregate traffic statistics (such as total visits by country). This is standard server infrastructure: it uses no cookies, it does not identify you, and it cannot be used to follow you across other websites. It runs for every visitor because the site cannot be delivered without it.

Cookies on this website

This website is separate from the app, and we treat it separately. By default it sets no cookies and runs no tracking beyond the cookieless hosting statistics described above. If you choose "Allow" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics, which sets cookies that count your visit and tell us which pages parents find useful. That is the only thing it is used for: we do not advertise to you, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share this information. If you choose "No thanks", nothing loads and no cookies are set, and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page. Children never use this website, and no child information is involved here.

Your choices and rights

You can update or delete any child profile in the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your data from our systems. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete your data; email privacy@toddlermode.app and we will honor them.
